When trouble strikes in New York City, it is the Police, Firefighters and EMS personnel that RUN TOWARD DANGER so that we can run away from danger.
Think about that for a moment… imagine yourself running toward the danger to save perfect strangers. Now imagine your family left behind if you were to make the ultimate sacrifice. This is the very essence of the New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund -- they step-up, for a lifetime, to take care of the families of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
This year, it is my great honor to be running my 4th NYC Marathon and 12th overall marathon for this amazing cause. Please join me in helping to make the lives of those left behind just a little bit easier.
PLEASE NOTE: In consideration of the tragedy caused by Hurricane Harvey, Irma and Maria, I will be personally donating $25 for every $100 raised toward this campaign goal to benefit those impacted by these tragic events. My personal donations will be split equally between the American Red Cross and the Houston SPCA. Think of it as assisting three very worthy charities at once!
The mission of the New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund is to support the families of New York City Police Officers, Firefighters, Port Authority Police, and EMS Personnel who have been killed in the line of duty. When these brave men and women make the ultimate sacrifice to protect our city, we believe it is our civic duty to support the families these heroes have left behind. Our mission is to reassure these families that we will never forget them or the sacrifice made by their loved ones. We currently provide annual financial assistance, host special gatherings, and offer a network of support to approximately 600 families. Our goal is to raise enough funds to enable us to increase the annual support we provide to these families.
