BENEFITING: THE PINK AGENDA INC
ORGANIZER: THE PINK AGENDA INC
Friends and family,
This year I am thrilled (and slightly terrified) to be running the 2017 TCS New York City Marathon. Since this is no easy feat to tackle alone, I've decided to run with a team. My team of 15 is running in support of the charity organization The Pink Agenda - which raises money for breast cancer research: a cause that is near and dear to my family's heart as my mom was diagnosed in 2016.
I won't pretend that her cancer was my fight, or my story to tell, or like i showed half of the strength she did throughout it...but for anyone who knows my mom or has had a loved one go through a similar health scare, I'm sure you can relate to the wharp-speed rush of emotions we felt. In what seemed like the blink of an eye, we were suddenly facing overwhelming amounts of sadness, fear, and uncertainty. Keeping our heads afloat was the love & support of family and friends, and the reassurance & determination of the amazing medical teams that worked with her along the way. Words can't even express the gratitude and relief I feel one-year later knowing she is here, cancer-free, happy, and healthier than ever (reference photo of her being a total badass and running a half marathon with me in May)!
While I would love nothing more than to give anyone in this situation the shoulder to cry on, hugs, impromptu coffees, loving notes, and pep talks that personally got me through a trying family time - I'm hoping to give future reassurance to those needing it by joining a cause that is setting out to raise hell and make breast cancer history.
My goal is to raise $3,000 for The Pink Agenda - which will go towards breast cancer research, care, and awareness - and I would love for you to help me achieve this. If you feel so inclined, I would be personally grateful for any monetary contribution you'd be willing to donate.
If a financial contribution isn't in the cards right now, I'll also be accepting help in the form of celebration following the race. Consuming 26.2 miles worth of calories via champagne and french fries alone wouldn't be any easy (or fun) feat either ;) More details to come on THAT.
I love you all from the bottom of my heart. -Em
