BENEFITING: WOMENS RESOURCE CENTER OF NORTHERN MICHIGAN
The Playground Project – a Leadership Little Traverse Project on behalf of the Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan
Leadership Little Traverse and The Women's Resource Center of Northern Michigan (WRCNM) are working in partnership to a build a new, $15,000 playground at the WRCNM Safe Home.
The WRCNM Safe Home playground will have the latest in children’s playground equipment and will be placed at the Women's Resource Center of Northern Michigan's Safe Home.
The WRCNM Safe Home in Emmet County provides a safe and comfortable place for survivors of domestic violence and their children to rebuild their lives. The "Safe Home" is operated 24/7 and provides more than 2,500 nights of refuge for survivors of domestic abuse each year. Meals, daily needs and domestic abuse services are provided to survivors at no charge.
This project will oversee the installation of a playground that will have play structures for preschool age children as well as children 5-12 years of age. It will have swings, smaller playground toys with slides, climbing features and seating for quality family time. Installation will be completed May, 2017.
This playground will provide a safe place for women and their children impacted by domestic abuse to relax, play and rebuild their lives. The addition of a playground would make the WRCNM Safe Home a complete, safe place for women and their children as they recover from domestic violence and begin to heal.
