The Power Of You
Organized by: Reintegrated Warrior
EVENT DATE Jun 01, 2016
The Military trains them to go to war, but no one trains them to come home.
Today, More than 125,000 soldiers have received what are known as "bad paper discharges" following their reports of mental problems. In order to avoid costs associated with dealing with the issue, the military has been ordered to discharge these veterans, after having served in combat zones. These "less-than-honorable discharges" result in the loss of access to medical and mental health care, as well as benifits like career training and the GI Bill. The effect of this blantant disregard for our soldiers welfare has resulted in suicide spreading through the ranks of our returning soldiers like a virus. 23 of our veterans take their own lives each day, thats one about every 65 minutes or so. This egregious disregard for their welfare has been happening for the last 8 years and this number continues to rise.
The Reintegrated Warrior Foundation bridges the gap from pre-discharge to post-restoration. Here, all men, having served, are offered a place in a residential or non-residential environment that provides job skills and entrepreneurial training; a life development plan to transition them into a future of their own choosing.
100% of our resources go to it's fund services for the Veterans. Each of our facilities is funded by a Trust Endowment, creating an organization sustained by the interest that is generated from the Trust. In other words, once the endowment goal is reached, the need for a continuous fund-raising cycle is eliminated as each facility, is its own independently funded and self-sustaining community. The Reintegrated Warrior Foundations’ goal is to open 50 facilities in 30 cities over the next 48 months.
