The highly successful Midwood High School FIRST FTC Robotics team The Rolling Drones has advanced to the FTC World Championship tournament in St. Louis, Missouri! This is an amazing opportunity for the kids, but we need your help getting there. This fundraising will help pay for transportation, food, lodging, uniforms, equipment and much more. Please support these young engineers and talented programmers on their journey!
Midwood is an incredibly large high school with more than 4,300 students. The robotics program is an opportunity for students who are interested in STEM careers to get hands on experience and learn about mechanics, electrical engineering, programming, and computer aided design (CAD).
For many years, Midwood has assembled a team of students to compete in the First Tech Challenge (FTC) robotics tournament, in which students worldwide compete and gain hands-on experience. This competition season, Midwood robotics has had tremendous success, winning two New York City qualifying tournaments, the New York City/Long Island Regional championship tournament, and East Coast Super Regional through effective collaboration with other teams. At these events, the Midwood robotics teams have won many supplementary awards such as Rockwell Collins Innovate Award given to “the team that has the most innovative and creative robot design solution to any or all specific field elements or components in the FTC game,” two Connect awards given to “the team that most connects with their local STEM community”, and a Design Award given to the robot that “recognizes design elements of the robot that are both functional and aesthetic”.
In order to attend the FTC World Championship Competition in St. Louis, Missouri we are in need of additional funding for materials, lodging, and travel. It would be extremely upsetting if after all of our hard work and dedication we are not be able to compete in this tournament due to lack of funding. We would be extremely grateful for a donation of any amount in support of our robotics teams.
