BENEFITING: HUNTERDON YOUTH SERVICES INC
EVENT DATE: Jul 09, 2016
We are a team of five distance cyclists banding together to help youth at risk by raising funds for Hunterdon Youth Services (HYS). Our team will ride together for 230 miles in 24 hours. Each rider will do this distance for a total team mileage of 1150 miles in 24 hours. Our adventure will begin in Connecticut and finish at Pete's Bike Shop in Flemington New Jersey as part of the New Jersey Arrow 360k. This event is dedicated for the sole purpose of raising funds for HYS who provides safe shelter and care for young teens who are not safe in their own homes. Our team will ride from Connecticut to Flemington, New Jersey with only some rest stops for food and water. We will ride the 24 hours without benefit of sleep. Our ride will start at 10am on June 9th and conclude in Flemington, NJ at 10am June 10th. We will ride self supported and will not use follow cars or rest stops other than convenience stores and restaurants. Our entire team will be using fixed-gear bikes which feature only one gear and no ability to coast, hence the name "Shiftless Vagabonds". We will stay together as a group for the entire distance and 24 hour period. My teammates are Jon Levitt (Captain), Christine Newman, Paul Shapiro and Brandon Mak.
