The South Shore Solution Documentary
Organized by: Johanny Pineyro
Many people are witnessing the gruesome reality in today's world of heroin and opiate addiction. The unvarnished stories of the afflicted and the addicted send chills up the spines of millions of viewers. These are important stories, but what’s lacking in the depiction of struggling addicts is the hope of a clean future, one free of active addiction. This is where I come in. I am producing a short documentary about the next phase of addiction; the recovery as exemplified in the stories of recovering addicts who demonstrate through interviews how they first surrendered then achieved a way of life in recovery, and freedom from active addiction to alcohol and drugs. I want to show the side of this epidemic that leaves people hopeful and enlightened, whereby after viewing this film they or someone they know who suffers from chemical addiction can see that there's a way out. It’s inspiring and gratifying to listen to the plight of recovering local addicts and to hear their courageous stories of survival against disturbing odds. Yes, too many are still dying, but there are also many getting sober, getting clean and becoming productive members of society. How? They found the Solution, The South Shore Solution!
