A group of students from Columbia have decided to spend their Spring Break making a difference in El Salvador building sanitary composting latrines for impoverished families in El Salvador!
If you plan to Participate in the event:
1. Make your tax-deductible donation here ($25 for adults, $10 for children 12 and under)
2. Click "register" to be taken to the race registration page where you'll pay $5 per race participant
Race Location: Stephen’s Park North Shelter
Course Description: The course will keep you on park trails as you visit a cute foot bridge before returning back into the part to circle the lake on a crisp beautiful day. We will celebrate together with a Bonfire and S’mores!
Awards: Top male and female for adults and children receive a refund of their entry and a personalized Toilet Trot drawing.
Proceeds: Proceeds will go to Enlace, as a local group of High School boys travel to El Salvador to help the community build compostable latrines to keep their drinking water safe. Enlace is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Stats about Sanitation in El Salvador:
40% of the Population in rural El Salvador do not have access to proper sanitation. The 2nd leading cause for doctor visits in El Salvador is for treatment of parasites borne from fecal-contaminated water. The cost of most composting latrines is $350 and will benefit a family of five for about twenty years.
