THE STORY:

As we soon head into the month of October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we reflect on Lola's contributions to the community and her fight against breast cancer. Lola was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003 at 28 years old. Through years of remission and recurrences, she courageously and gracefully battled the disease and entered eternal rest in October of 2013 at 38 years old.

For several years she raised thousands of dollars for research and treatments. She also stressed early detection through awareness, walked miles in support of survivors, and honored those who are no longer with us. Because of her years of commitment, #teamLOLA10 will continue to uplift her legacy. That is why we are proud to announce the creation of The Lola Brown Foundation. We are a non-profit organization officially recognized by the state of South Carolina as a charity. Our mission is to empower and honor minority women and families affected by breast cancer through scholarship and awareness.   We have obtained our 501(c)(3) federal tax exemption status, so contributions made to the foundation are tax-deductible.

Lola touched so many lives and we hope you will continue to support her vision of creating more birthdays for those diagnosed with breast cancer, by supporting the foundation that is now her namesake. In order to continue the work Lola began, we are raising funds for the foundation to support those affected by breast cancer. We will participate in the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Walk in Atlanta. The walk will be held Saturday, October 24th, at 9 a.m. at Centennial Olympic Park where we will make a donation on behalf of The Lola Brown Foundation. We will also celebrate Lola during The 5th Annual Paint the Town Pink Weekend which will begin Friday, October 23rd, with a meet and greet mixer, followed by Lola's Perfect Ten Pink Dinner on Saturday night after the walk. We would love for you to attend!

The Lola Brown Foundation has plans to host an annual spring gala in Lola's name, which will be our major fundraiser in Columbia, SC. Our vision and goals cannot come to fruition without you! We will always commemorate Lola's life the way she lived - faithfully, fiercely, gracefully, beautifully!!  Help us to do so by donating to the Lola Brown Foundation.

Thanks in advance for your support whether it be through prayers, donations, or volunteer work with #teamLOLA10.
