The East Baltimore neighborhoods of Oliver, Johnston Square, and Darley Park need your help. The 6th Branch has been adopting vacant plots of land in the area for the past few years and transforming them into vibrant community assets. We created and manage a large urban farm in Oliver providing fresh produce to our neighbors. We renovated and continue to improve Ambrose Kennedy Park in Johnston Square. And this year, we began work in Darley Park. There's much more, but you get the gist. We call this process of adopting and transforming vacant lots "Neighborscape." Another aspect to our programming is supporting two East Baltimore elementary schools - Dr. Bernard Harris Elementary and Johnston Square Elementary. We hope to raise $15,000 to support Neighborscape and our support to the local schools. Last year, we decided to stop soliciting donations for each of our projects throughout the year and instead have one big annual fundraiser. We wanted to avoid donor fatigue and frankly we know that constant requests for money can be annoying. So, we've been keeping our mouths shut all year in hopes that we could make it all happen on Giving Tuesday. You can help us roll into 2016 with a truckload of positive momentum by supporting this fundraiser. And oh yeah, we'd also like to see you come down to East Baltimore and #GrabAshovel with us.
