Looking to stage an epic, multi-city one-man show adaptation of Mike Daisey's critically-acclaimed "The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs" across a dozen countries spanning 5 continents including North and South America, Africa, Europe and Asia starting later this year. It is my hope that through this production, we can expose the heinous and dehumanizing conditions under which hundreds of thousands of Chinese workers suffer, daily, on a massive global scale, the likes of which have yet to be attempted or contemplated, thus far.
Given all the recent press coverage (The New York Times, Nightline, etc.) targeting the Foxconn facilities, the industrial site where nearly every Apple product is assembled and produced, there is no better time than the present to educate and enlighten people on the horrors and abuses endured by Chinese workers.
While touring different cities in different countries, the production will also serve, simultaneously, as a robust human rights campaign on behalf of these workers heightening awareness and raising consciousness. This will be a multi-coordinated effort involving various labor unions, religious groups, human rights organizations, fair labor groups, etc, all of whom will help in promoting and sponsoring the production, domestically and abroad.
The monies we are looking to raise will facilitate all travel, lodging and theater rental expenses for the duration of the tour. Little overhead is required as all the shows will take place in small, intimate venues such as church basements, black box theaters, school auditoriums, etc.
