The Backpack Cause
Organized by: Dion Daniels
What We Need We need your support to make this campaign a success. Help us help the homeless! First and foremost we need donations to purchase the backpacks and supplies to fill them. The goal set is for the first run of backpacks. We intend to continue filling and handing out backpacks to the homeless as long as we can continue to purchase supplies. Your donation puts much needed hygiene products in the hands of those that desperately need them. With these items, a homeless person could be more presentable, and more accepted for job interviews, restaurants and even in the community. What goes in the packs We thought long and hard about what items a homeless person may need. In addition to getting a light-weight drawstring back pack we will include these essentials for personal hygiene: Soap Toothbrush/Toothbrush covers Hairbrush/Comb Toilet paper in waterproof bag Deodorant Body powder Flush-able wipes Emergency/disposable poncho Granola bars Socks Feminine hygiene products Card with list of resources including a number to request another bag And more! If we succeed our goal, we will put even more awesome stuff in our bags, including permanent ponchos, which will be of great use during the fall/winter. What You Get In addition to the warm, fuzzy feeling you get from doing something nice for someone else, we also have many different perks for different levels of donations. Each reward level also gets the rewards from all previous levels. Other Ways You Can Help We know that not everyone can contribute financially, but that doesn't have to prevent you helping with this project. Here are just a few ways you can help us achieve our goals: The most important thing is to spread the word. Let your friends know about this project. Share this page on your social sites. We will also need volunteers to help us put together these backpacks and to distribute them locally. If you are in the greater Everett area, contact us about helping with these important tasks. There are so many people suffering in the world that we can't do much about. But there are people in need in our own communities that we can help. We in SHoE believe that we are all responsible for helping the people around us.
