BENEFITING: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
EVENT DATE: Nov 30, 2012
Last November I decided to join the team to complete our first marathon, New Jersey Marathon. I figured if I was going to put in all the hard work to train, why not do it for a great cause. Now I will do it again for the Walt Disney World Marathon.
While being part of the team, I met so many inspiring people who all joined the team for a different reason but all with the same goal of finding cures and better treatments for blood cancers. I have never met such a group of resilient and strong individuals. I strongly believe I would not have been able to complete the marathon without the help of the team. At mile 23 I came down with a terrible muscle cramp and I didn't know if I was going to be able to finish. But then came along one of the many fabulous coaches and he helped run me into the finish. While he distracted me from my agony and pushed me through to the finish, all I could think about the rest of the team running this marathon who were survivors or had loved ones they were running for and I knew I had no option but to finish strong for them. It truly was an amazing experience and I am so glad to be part of the team again to support such a wonderful cause.
To aid in my fundraising, Shirley from The Bar Method in Englewood, NJ has offered to hold a fundraiser. This will be an hour Bar Method Class on November 30th, 2012 at 7:00 PM. The cost of the class of $25 will be donated to Luekemia and Lymphoma Society. There's only 27 spots, so sign up quickly!
