During Spring Break 2016, Tim and I will travel to Cambodia with 25 Ninth Grade Students and four faculty from The Bishop's School. We are partnering with The Cambodian Village Fund (CVF), established by the Grandparents of one of our students, and will be visiting and volunteering in their programs for part of our trip. Our goal is to raise $30,000 to support the work of CVF ($1,000 for each trip participant).
The funds we raise will be used to support two specific projects:
(1) Scholarships for girls in grades 7 through the 4th year in college. Experience has proven that one of the keys to igniting sustainable development and entrepreneurship in the developing world is educating girls, who are much more likely to pass on the benefits of their education to their families, their communities, and their future children. CVF currently supports 26 girls at an average cost of $1,000 per girl per year, which covers tuition, housing, groceries, school supplies, and access to laptops / smartphones.
(2) Equipping the new Library / Media Center at Prey Touch Secondary School (grades 7-9) - Book Shelves, Books, Posters, DVD player, Computers, LED screen, and Projector. Additional funds will be used to upgrade their computer lab and network, and add a broadband Internet connection.
Many Thanks for visiting our Crowdrise page, and for your support of this worthy cause...and our collective efforts to reach our fundraising goal.
