My name is Ivan Savchuk and this Spring Break, I am privileged to go on a community service trip to Cambodia. I will volunteer in the programs of the Cambodian Village Fund, which includes visiting the school in the city of Battambang which we are raising funds for right now, and helping the schoolchildren there. I will also be seeing the many important landmarks of Cambodia, like the famous Angkor Wat. Thank you for helping me do my part in aiding the people of Cambodia.
Dr. David Moseley, teacher at the Bishop's School and organizer of the fundraiser, wrote -
Susaday! ["Hello" in Khmer] During Spring Break 2016, 25 Ninth Grade Students and five faculty from The Bishop's School, La Jolla, will be visiting Cambodia. We are partnering with The Cambodian Village Fund (CVF), established by the Grandparents of one of our students, and will be visiting and volunteering in their programs for part of our trip. Our goal is to raise $30,000 to support the work of CVF ($1,000 for each trip participant).
The funds we raise will be used to support two specific projects:
(1) Scholarships for girls in grades 7 through the 4th year in college. Experience has proven that one of the keys to igniting sustainable development and entrepreneurship in the developing world is educating girls, who are much more likely to pass on the benefits of their education to their families, their communities, and their future children. CVF currently supports 26 girls at an average cost of $1,000 per girl per year, which covers tuition, housing, groceries, school supplies, and access to laptops / smartphones.
(2) Equipping the new Library / Media Center at Prey Touch Secondary School (grades 7-9) - Book Shelves, Books, Posters, DVD player, Computers, LED screen, and Projector. Additional funds will be used to upgrade their computer lab and network, and add a broadband Internet connection.
Please find links to the individual fundraising pages of all our trip participants.
Many Thanks for visiting our Crowdrise page, and for your support of this worthy cause...and our collective efforts to reach our fundraising goal.
