Thank you for visiting my Crowdrise page. I am very excited to be traveling to Cambodia this Spring break with these bright and talented students. We will be spending our time learning about the complex Modern history of Cambodia in the Capital city of Phnom Penh, working with Cambodian youth at the Prey Touch Secondary School, and seeing the ancient ruin of Angkor Wat. It is our time with Cambodian youth that I ask for your support. I have set a fundraising goal of $1,000 to cover the yearly education costs for one Cambodian girl.
We are partnering with The Cambodian Village Fund (CVF), established by the Grandparents of one of our students, and will be visiting and volunteering in their programs for part of our trip. Our goal is to raise $30,000 to support the work of CVF ($1,000 for each trip participant).
The funds we raise will be used to support two specific projects:
(1) Scholarships for girls in grades 7 through the 4th year in college. Experience has proven that one of the keys to igniting sustainable development and entrepreneurship in the developing world is educating girls, who are much more likely to pass on the benefits of their education to their families, their communities, and their future children. CVF currently supports 26 girls at an average cost of $1,000 per girl per year, which covers tuition, housing, groceries, school supplies, and access to laptops / smartphones.
(2) Equipping the new Library / Media Center at Prey Touch Secondary School (grades 7-9) - Book Shelves, Books, Posters, DVD player, Computers, LED screen, and Projector. Additional funds will be used to upgrade their computer lab and network, and add a broadband Internet connection.
Please find links to the individual fundraising pages of all our trip participants. They are all talented students and worthy of your support.
Many Thanks for visiting our Crowdrise page, and for your support of this worthy cause...and our collective efforts to reach our fundraising goal.
