The Bosley Fund
Organized by: Kristen Deering Bennett
Ten months ago Herman Bosley approached us about taking custody of his great-grandson, Tre Tre. One month ago, we made this happen – mostly because of the emotional testimony Herman gave the magistrate, stating that his last dying wish was for Tre Tre to become a part of our family. Sadly, one week ago, Herman passed away. We were not at all prepared to say goodbye, but we are confident that he was finally at peace knowing that Tre Tre had a home.
So many people have asked what they could do to help, and we’ve struggled to find an answer, until some friends suggested contributions made directly to Tre Tre. Seven years ago, when Herman first took custody of four-year old Tre, he started a college savings plan for him. We would like to continue what Herman started by creating a UGMA (Uniform Gifts to Minors Act) account which will be used to fund college, as well as tutoring, counseling and other experiences that will benefit Tre Tre as he transitions to life in our family.
Tre has suffered immeasurable loss throughout his short life, but the people of Dublin – neighbors, friends, teachers, counselors and countless others have supported him time and again with their love and generosity. Herman and the people of Dublin, especially the neighborhood of Shawnee Hills, have given Tre a bright future and a true sense of purpose. For that, we are immensely grateful.
With much love,
Mark, Kristen, Will, Grey and Tre Tre (and Herman, too)
