Success at Zeno Mountain Farm and the Marathon
May 29, 2016
Hi everyone! This is year 3 for me to attend the retreat at Zeno Mountain Farm with Love Your Brain. I've had a really great year and am looking forward to attending and running in the Vermont City Marathon in support of these two terrific organizations.
Please take a moment and watch the video (just to the left of this). I think you will be amazed with what we are doing!
I am now 4 1/2 years post injury and continue my education at CU Boulder in Integrative Physiology. Yes, that's right, Integrative Physiology. It forms the base for a career in health service. I am on track to graduate in the fall of 2017, so the TBI detour has change my path, but not my determination. Last fall, I joined and was initiated into an academic fraternity - Phi Sigma Pi. This was an enormous achievement for me and I have found it rewarding in friendship, scholarship, leadership, and all kinds of other "ship"'s that I strive for.
The first year at Zeno, I ran 5K (3.1 miles) in the relay portion of the Marathon. Last year, I ran 10K (6.2 miles). This year I have been training in the beautiful Boulder environment and plan to do 1/2 of the marathon (13.1 miles)! I don't plan on letting whoever is my partner down.
As many of you have likely read in the news the past year, brain injury affects many people and resources for those impacted are limited. I know this first hand. I really hope you will support me in my fundraising efforts as these two organizations work diligently to assist those affected. Their communication and programs have assisted many families who would have otherwise been left behind. I have a goal to raise $1,000 to help out and if I get close to that, I plan to increase the goal just like I do everything else I do in life.
Here is the newsletter about last year's retreat.

Every year the ZMF and LYB gang gets together to hold a retreat for people who have survived brain trauma, their loved ones and friends. To pay for this, we join even more peple and run together as THE BRAINFARMERS- (Get it?)... Please join us in all the fun and friendship.
