January 2016’s Charity Pick: Rescue:Freedom International
“It is not the injustice that drives us; it is the magnitude of hope.”
Jeremy Vallerand, President & CEO of Rescue:Freedom International
Ending Sexual Slavery One Life At A Time
Jennifer Johnsen had the opportunity to meet and talk to Jeremy and she was impressed by what she heard..impressed and passionate enough to present this charity at our January Butterfly Effect meeting. It has touched her heart and now we hope it touchs yours.
Here is Rescue:Freedom's story:
There are more slaves in the world today than any other time in history. With an estimated 4.5 million people in sexual slavery, human trafficking is the fastest growing criminal enterprise on the planet. In many parts of the world, the average age into prostitution is 12-14 years old. (7th to 9th grade).
We are setting out to bring hope and freedom to every corner of the world. As our name implies, we are committed to the journey from rescue to freedom. Rescue is essential, but it is only the beginning of the road to restoration. For true, holistic freedom to be a reality, trafficking survivors need safety, support, community, healthcare, education....and more. We are building a “global” network of local service providers who are bringing hope and freedom to those in their communities.
WHAT OUR PARTNER SITES DO:
We believe the best care for survivors is hyper-local and led by those who have a long-term commitment to the community. Through our network of partners in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Moldova, Spain, Tajikistan and the United States, our programs address the physical, emotional, spiritual, mental and educational needs of rescued women and children.
Attached is a link to some of the “rescue stories” of actual girls that have been touched by Rescue:Freedom International, through their partner affiliates.
Attached is another link to a local (Bremerton) blogger who decided to give back in a big way. She started CiderPress Lane Dinners and her story and her results touched my heart.
