BENEFITING: TURNING PAGES FOUNDATION
Cindy Parker is a good friend of mine who is in stage four breast cancer. She has spent the last five years as a patient with the City of Hope, doing chemo therapy, radiation therapy and two surgeries. They have done remarkable work with her. However, as a stage four breast cancer patient, she needs alternative methods of treatment in order to prolong her life. These treatments are extremely expensive and the most effective ones seem to be found outside of the United States. Cindy and I have been friends for more than 15 years and, I have had the pleasure of working side by side with her for 8 of those years. To my friends who already know her, Cindy needs no description. We already know her to be kind , gentle and personable. To those of you who have never met her, I can tell you without hesitation that she is a marvelous human being, deserving of our best effort.
I don’t think I need to remind anyone that the gift of life is precious. Yet, it is also fleeting. And anything that can be done to prolong this gift, this life, should be done, even if what you’re doing only helps you to live one more day. I believe that these treatments will help Cindy live longer. To me, as a kidney donor, the concept of giving up on a life in need never enters my mind. I need you all to see this situation through my eyes and join my cause.
