The City Commons
Organized by: Cherie Clark
In April of 2013 I started a Nebraska non-profit, The City Commons, to produce high quality programing for local Public Access. In the last year Public Access has virtually died, there are no facilities and the channel itself is showing a hodge podge of programs from the station manager and the few remaining producers. The decision was made in November of 2013 to try to find studio space and start shooting our own shows and allowing other producers to use our facility as well. In January 2014 it became clear with the new rules Public Access was not going to be a suitable outlet and so plans were laid to start our own Internet Community Television channel, Commons TV. We hope to launch the channel on July 4th, 2014. In the mean time if we expect to grow we need to file for our 501 (3c) so we can fund raise in earnest. We need $500 to finish paying for the filing. Right now we are being supported by myself and 3 producers, it covers our rent and some of our Internet costs. Our website is http://thecitycommonsstudio.org Feel free to poke around and see what we are doing now as well as our plans for the future. Bootstrapping a project this size has been challenging but we are determined to make this work. But to make it work we need community spport. I thank you for your time and any contributions you may make.
