It has become my goal to do something to raise awareness about the dangers of prescription drug abuse and the many alternative treatments available thanks to science and modern medicine. At the same time, I'd like to help facilitate meetings for AA and the many other recovery and personal development type support groups and possibly more that are mainly focusing on a better quality of relationships and building community while supporting recovery and personal development.
I am committed to creating “The Clark-Fickett Recovery and Personal Development Center” and personally making it a part of this community. I chose the name “The Clark-Fickett Recovery and Personal Development Center” in honor of my daughter's mother (Please read my profile for more information). My goal is that it will bring healing to my family and the many families in the surrounding areas struggling with similar issues concerning addiction, recovery, and personal development as well as the many other circumstances where people could use a hand up with transition in their lives. There are no recovery meetings listed in the Baileyville area on the AA Central Service Office website. They are all outside of town by the looks of things and this area could really use some support meetings.
I think it is best right now to focus on one phase of the project at a time as donated funds will provide. I have already found, purchased, and begun the long process of making improvements to an impoverished property that I have made the final payment on just last week (5/15/2014). This includes paying to demolish (due to it's uninhabitability) and remove the building that was already there out of my own pocket.
I will still need to cover the costs of building a four-season block and mortar building with basic amenities to be used as a meeting house and place for hope, support, and healing in a very distressed area. I believe it was recently rated #1 in prescription drug abuse in the U.S.A. I may be wrong about this, but it is certainly rumored as such and shows ALL the signs.
I am master electrician and handyman, so I also plan to take part in the construction services wherever needed. I anticipate that this will keep the initial expenses lower that what I have projected. I will also take the time to update all interested parties as promptly as possible when new developments occur.
I plan to take classes to become certified as a Relapse Prevention Specialist as well as take the steps necessary for certification in guided meditation and fitness. I will learn new things to teach those that are interested in workshops that donated funds would provide for and so much more. I am actually working on a weekly schedule of services that may be available for the community for free or for a reasonable fee. I will be writing about these ideas as we bring it all into better clarity.
While building this project, I intend to not only get listed with Central Service Office of AA, CODA, and NAMI, but ANY OTHER supporting agency that would be willing to help me raise awareness and reach those that need help.
A small portion of the money received will be used to cover administrative expenses, however, the long term goal is for the Center to stabilize itself and become self-sufficient through contributions and on-site concessions.
There are many ways in which I can help after the Center is open as well. I have a lot of local support with donations already coming in a little at a time in the form of a band that is willing to play for free to raise funds and another donation of kitchen items for the concessions. I am VERY excited to do this!

I also have an inspirational blog that I wish to incorporate into this project. I actually plan on changing the name of this blog at the appropriate time to “The Clark-Fickett Recovery and Development Center” but for now it remains the original name. Please feel free to check it out and share with your friends and family if you support my cause! https://www.facebook.com/pages/I-am-like-Chef-Gorden-Ramsey-Except-on-Life-not-Kitchens/601704353191904
