Four out of five Americans drink coffee, but many of us do not know about life at the origin of our coffee supply chain. Despite great strides in the fair trade movement, many coffee farming families who provide us with our coffee still cannot afford basics like food, education and adequate health care. Many live in poverty.
The Coffee Trust supports improving the lives of coffee farming families in Guatemala and Honduras through grassroots development projects that focus on education, health care, food security, economic development and sustainability.
Guatemala and Honduras are home to some of the finest quality, organic fair trade coffee that you and I drink. They are also home to many rural, indigenious people, some of who are still recovering from protracted, brutal civil wars and whose rich culture and youth are at risk in surviving in today’s powerful, global economy.
