THE STORY:

My cause is very important because it's such a treacherous disease and another "Silent Killer" that very few know and/or understand. Many of us go through years of pain and agony, misdiagnoses, harshly judged as hypochondriacs, whiners and complainers, pretenders, attention seekers, and even junkies. I've given up on the fighting with Medical Professionals who are embarrassed to simply admit to the fact that Medical Science has no cure for Lupus and those who refused to go on and say that "they just don't know what to do with us". My dying wish is to bring together a large Support Group that will Volunteer/Dedicate to go to the streets of our communities and seek out those who have friends, family co-workers and peers that they know and love who just maybe willing to learn more with us about this dreadful disease and how to best care for one who has been diagnosed with Lupus. We are suffering in Silence. There are many Organizations and groups out there yet I personally know many of us who have committed suicide because of the lack of proper diagnosis, the feelings of being isolated, loneliness, tired of being labeled as some of the very things that I've already mentioned above. I want to see "REAL LOVE AND ACTIVE VOICES IN MOTION". We must have a very different type of Support Group, One that is not out to become the Hero but an group of people who Really want to dedicate to this cause and who are ready to meet this challenge to not only INCREASE AWARENESS but actually assist each other in every area of our lives on at least a week to week basis and assist us to live out our remainding days with the least amount of difficulities that we can. I have a POSITIVE HISTORY of my VOLUNTEER Community Works within the Las Vegas Community as well as in the little Town of Parump. This past year has been the most devastation year of my Life since I was diagonosied with SLE Lupus in October of 2010 as I was forced into homelessness at the age of 60 years old. (See Las Vegas Review Journal, October 25, 2015) The article explains briefly the hows and whys of how I became homless because of my heart condition that was brought on by Lupus. This article can be found when the public simply Google's "Las Vegas Section 8 Housing Authority Lawsuits) Being homeless was never an imangeable situation for a person like myself after appreciating so many Successes in my pass life, however; this situation only gave me closer contact with those who were even less fortunate than myself out there and I met even more people (including Children) that were battling with this same disease. I will Die pursuing this dream of being of Maxium Service to the Lupus Cause and my Community alike. Sincerly, Alice M. Banks
