The Crew Chiefs
Organized by: Shootout for Soldiers
Event Name: Shootout for Soldiers Baltimore
EVENT DATE Jun 22, 2016
"The Shootout for Soldiers (SFS) is a 24 hour lacrosse game benefiting wounded American military members. It’s not a tournament, nor is it about recruiting. The event is all about supporting those who serve our country. There are 24, 1-hour games. There are two teams: Stars and Stripes. The score is cumulative over the 24 hour period and last year the team I organized played for Stars who ended up winning 349-336. The organization partners with four incredible organizations: Team Red White & Blue, Army Ranger Lead the Way Fund, Semper Fi Fund, and Gary Sinise Foundation. SFS helps fund their different programs that support veterans in a host of ways. In addition to encouraging players to have fun while building teamwork, I use this event as a positive way to also enhance our youth’s knowledge about the value of our military veterans and their sacrifice. This year I would like to name our team ""The Crew Chiefs"" and dedicate the 1-hour game and affiliated fundraising donations to honor the memory of SGM Tom Price, who was a close friend, mentor and colleague to many of us. Last June, Tom passed away after a year-long and incredibly valiant battle with cancer. He had selflessly given over two decades serving our Nation. Many of those years were as an aviation crew chief or mechanic in the Special Operations community and 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment. He deployed multiple times overseas away from his wife and two sons, but never complained nor wanted favor for it; he simply loved his country and those he served with. Tom was a candid, strong, and talented leader who shaped the lives of all those he touched through his quick wit and unwavering integrity. He is never forgotten."
