As a part of the Second Annual Havas CHI Internship Draft, I'm unwrapping the truth about the broken chocolate industry. Every piece of chocolate you eat is brought to you by the back-breaking labor of child slaves as young as six on cocoa farms in West Africa. Chocolate manufacturers (Hershey's, Nestle, and Mars to name a few) have had every opportunity to stop the trafficking of children and illegal slaves but have done little to change it. In fact, there was a 51% increase in the number of children working in the cocoa industry in 2013-14. To generate awareness about this heartbreaking issue, I'm raising money for Slave Free Chocolate, a respected organization committed to eradicating child slavery on cocoa farms. For every $10 you donate it helps educate ONE THOUSAND more people about child slavery. Every dollar can make a genuine difference in someone's life! As Achim Steiner said, "Every small action matters because when seven billion people do that thing it changes the world."
