The DIY Guide Dog Project

I am an Information Security Researcher by trade, and aspiring film producer. I also happen to be blind. Just prior to Christmas of 2015, I received a 9 week old Lab named Midnight. Over the years many friends and family have asked me why I hadn't applied to obtain a Guide Dog. The main reason, is that in order to fully understand and appreciate the complexity of my assistant, I wanted to be part of the training from the ground up. My role as a Security Researcher has frequently given me the opportunity to take apart complex systems and processes in order to find methods to improve existing current practices. If this isn't enough, I intend to document Midnight's progress from pup to qualified Guide Dog. My goal is not only to get Midnight to become a top-rate service animal, but also create a documentary following each step in the process. Please consider contributing to this cause to provide me with a Guide Dog, further documentation on the DIY process, and the production of a unique documentary film to be released to the public.
