The Edward Gula Giving Grant

Why the Edward Gula Giving Grant:
On May 3rd, 2014, my dad, Edward Gula, died of a massive heart attack. The most important thing to him was the love and generosity he showed to everyone he ever met. My dad could never in his life have met someone he considered a stranger and would go out of his way to make you laugh, to connect, and to give to you no matter who you were.
Coming from a lifetime of overcoming both situational and personal struggles he was incredibly empathetic to all. His greatest sweet spot was especially toward kids as myself and my sister were his world. My sister was 5 months pregnant at the time of his death and all he could talk about was the intense pride he felt in becoming a grandparent.
In his life he was always serving others. He served in both the Army and the Navy. He served disadvantaged children as a foster parent taking in countless kids for over ten years. He served with churches and various organizations in the community to help those in need. He served as a school disciplinary officer and intervened in many a troubled kids lives being able to meet them where they were at. He served as a coach for school football, track, and the Salvation Army football league. He served as a father, a role model and a inspiration to all.
His entire life can be summed up to me in the way in which he was always giving to others. So I am here asking your support as I set up a scholarship fund for the very children he hoped to impact. Every dollar donated goes directly toward helping kids who have overcome adversity have a better shot at college by easing the financial burden. So, even in his death I want his legacy to continue as a name associated with generosity. I believe he deserves nothing less.
