The Ellie Fund is thrilled to participate in the 118th Boston Marathon! Ellie Fund advocate Taylor Carr will be running for the Ellie Fund, raising important funds in support of the Ellie Fund's mission to fight breast cancer by easing its effects on women and families.
100% of the funds raised will be use to provide critical support services including transportation to medical appointments, childcare, housekeeping, groceries and prepared meals to women and their families fighting breast cancer across Massachusetts.
The Boston Marathon was the catalyst to the Ellie Fund’s fundraising efforts. The Ellie Fund was founded in 1994 by brothers Jeff and Elliot Popkin in honor of their mother Eleanor “Ellie” Popkin, a lifelong Newton resident, who lost her nine year battle against breast cancer in 1987. The year following their mother’s death Jeff and Elliot ran the Boston Marathon in their first effort to raise funds in honor of their mother.
We are honored to partner with the John Hancock Non Profit Program to once again use the Boston Marathon as an important platform to change the lives of the women, men and children that line the marathon route each year.
