Your donation will help support the development of skilled, motivated, passionately caring young leaders who understand the difference one person can make!
Teens are applying now, and many need some extra support to attend. Every dollar you donate helps, $2500 equals one campers full participation.
For 50 years (starting during Jim Crow segregation) the Encampment for Citizenship brought together diverse groups of youth every summer to live together, learn to understand each other, and work on community projects. They left inspired! Check out the video on this page to see the Encampment Through the Years!
We are 25 alum volunteers, who attended the EFC from the 1950s to the 1990s, and we want today's youth to have the same opportunity we did. We are recreating the program as the Encampment, and are reaching out to youth from inner cities, 4-H clubs, American Indian communities and more - to come together this summer on the campus of University of Illinois in! (We will hold Encampments in various locations across the country in future years.)
The youth will explore community issues such as environmental justice, and create art, music, and a performance piece.
Thank you for your support - we want this to be the first of many years to come - for Encampments in the summer and a year round program as well!! We have hired a fantastic director for the summer, and need the funds to sponsor the youth to attend. We can only do it with your support!!!!
We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit.
