Howdy! My name is Matt Portillo, and I'm helping Champions in Action raise $10,000 to launch a national soccer league in Guatemala. Our little nonprofit is growing fast, and it’s time to go nationwide with our mission of connecting Guatemalan teens with mentors, using soccer as a connection point.
This fall, 50 runners around the country are going The Extra Mile to raise that $10,000 by running half or full marathons. In addition to being the fundraiser leader (umm, #scary #exciting), I’m also one of the 50 runners. I’ll be running the Dallas Half Marathon on Dec. 8, and I’m inviting YOU to sponsor my run. Sponsoring is easy, and you can make your eventual donation right here on Crowdrise.
You can sponsor me in one of three ways...
1) The fun way: Make a “per mile” pledge (25 cents, 50 cents, etc) for every mile that I run between now and when I cross the finish line. You can also pledge a “bonus” amount for if I beat my personal record (1 hour and 33 minutes) on race day.
2) Pledge to donate a specified amount after my race.
3) Simply make a donation beforehand.
Get in touch with me (email@example.com) and we’ll talk about which option you like best.
As most of you know, I’ve been working for Champions in Action for the past seven months. Through soccer camps, visits to neighborhoods where kids live, and watching mentors invest in their kids, I’ve seen the benefits of mentorship in the lives of others. It’s also made me reflect on my own life and the mentors who invested in me in middle school, high school, university, and even now. I’m blessed to have had people in my life who took it upon themselves to spend time with me, encourage me, lend a listening ear, share their wisdom, and believe in me always. For me, it’s personal. I believe in the mission and vision of Champions in Action because I KNOW that mentorship changes lives forever.
Contact me (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you or someone you know would also be interested in running or helping to fundraise. Together, we can go The Extra Mile so that teens can experience the lasting physical and social benefits of soccer and mentorship.
Champions in Action is a 501(c)(3) organization in the United States and a registered non-governmental organization in Guatemala.
