Friendship Village

Helping Kids Caught in the Legacy of War

Today, thousands of children in Vietnam live with moderate to severe disabilities owing to Agent Orange, a defoliant dropped on Vietnam’s jungles by the American military throughout the 1960s. They suffer from a variety of genetic and environmental maladies, these “invisible children” of Vietnam, from obscure cancers to pronounced neurological disorders to severe mental retardation and arrested physical development. They are among Vietnam’s most socially marginalized people, and rarely does their plight make the American news.

Created by Dr. Joseph Little, a professor at Niagara University, the Friendship Fund is an online fundraising campaign working to support the Vietnam Friendship Village, a residential school and clinic located in Hanoi, Vietnam, that serves approximately 120 kids living with moderate to severe disability owing to Agent Orange.

While the Village does receive funding from the Vietnamese government, it also relies on private donations to make ends meet. You can help by donating today. Even $10 will make a difference.

If you have any questions about this fundraiser, or if you would like information on how to volunteer at the Village, please email Dr. Joseph Little at jlittle@niagara.edu or call him at 716-255-3909.
