The Climb to Conquer Cancer
Mt. Blanca is 14,345 feet high
From October 19th to October 21st Grant Hedrick's father, Russ, and friend Andy Ashta will be climbing two of the largest mountains in Colorado in order to raise funds for the University of Chicago's Brain Tumor Research Center. The Center is instrumental in creating medical advancements to help those like Grant, who suffer from various forms of brain cancer. Grant has been waging his own battle against brain cancer for the past several years.
Russ and Andy plan to summit both Blanca and Ellingwood Points, two of Colorado's 14'ers.
Russ and Andy aren't asking for anyone to join them on the climb, just join them in fighting brain cancer by contributing to the University of Chicago Brain Cancer Foundation here. The climb is self-funded. All of your donations will be going directly to the Foundation to aid in further cancer research.
Whether you can afford to donate or not, please take a second to forward our link to your social networks. Every connection helps!
The pictures on this site are of Grant, the Hedrick family and the peaks which Russ and Andy will be conquering.
As Russ commented, "Sure they look difficult and treacherous, but no more than the battles faced every day by cancer patients like my son, Grant. His daily battles inspire me. We hope our climb inspires him and others. Join us in spirit as we conquer these two mountains for cancer victims everywhere."
