BENEFITING: Saha Global
EVENT DATE: Jun 01, 2015
This summer I'm traveling to the northern region of Ghana to volunteer as a field representative with Saha Global. The purpose of the trip is to provide the necessary materials and training to female entrepreneurs so they can manage a small solar energy production business used to charge small electronic devices.
This small business would eliminate the need for people to walk several miles to charge objects such as phones, and give the business owner a source of income due to the small price per device charge. Also, the charging stations can be used to charge small electric lanterns to light people’s houses instead of using kerosene lamps.
I’m extremely excited to be traveling somewhere both to explore another culture, while providing the means to sustainably improve the quality of life of a community. Also, a promising bit of information is that Saha has implemented 74 clean water businesses and 8 solar electricity business, and all of these businesses are in operation today!
The money I’m raising will cover the startup cost for the solar business materials and also cover my living expenses while in country. It won’t go towards my plane ticket, but I figure it’s something worth spending money on. So please donate! Any amount is appreciated.

The amount raised on the bar on the right is only from this web site, but I'll be keeping updates on this site of the total amount raised from all types of donations. Anyway, here's some info on the project:
If you donate online through Crowdrise, Crowdrise takes 5 % of the donation plus $1 per donation. If you want all of your money to reach this project directly, make out a check to Saha Global with Andrew Purgiel in the memo and send it to the following address:
