As many of you know, 19 years ago I went into cardiac arrest and since then have had a defibrillator and pacemaker implanted. What many of you may not know is that being a kid/teenager with a heart problem was quite alienating -- I lost many friends, and felt quite alone as didn't know anyone who was going through what I was going through.
Today there is a camp that allows kids with heart problems to be regular kids for a few days and be just like everyone else -- Camp Odayin. I had the opportunity to be a part of the staff the first year it started , and it was so fun to see these amazing kids who had defibrillators, pacemakers, transplanted hearts, etc. run and play and have the time of their lives.
