Hawksbill sea turtles (Eretmochelys imbricata) are one of the rarest sea turtle species within the eastern Pacific region & were thought to be near extinct. Major nesting sites have been discovered in EL Salvador & Nicaragua but the movements of juveniles are unknown, until now...
Researchers believe that Guatemala’s mangrove waterways may hold the key to the secret foraging grounds of the juveniles. The hawksbill project needs to raise US$4000 so we can satellite track the 1st juvenile hawksbill in Guatemala. By tracking one of these rare turtles we can learn of their movements in order to give them protection for a securer future. Be a part of their conservation.
