The HIE Institute
Organized by: Ashley Huffman
This fundraiser was made for the purpose of raising money & awareness to organize a facility that will focus on research for hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE).
The goal is to research outcomes based on initial brain damage to provide individualized plans of care for newborns.
Right now, "wait & see" is the common response given to parents seeking answers to questions about what to do next. Providing a care plan will offer families a little control over their situation and much needed encouragement and hope for the future.
The idea is to create a network of doctors, specialists, and therapists that are members of this institute. These individuals will be very familiar with HIE and be able to refer children to other doctors and therapists in the family's area. Obtaining the best treatment as early as possible is the goal.
