March 28, 2016
EVENT DATE Mar 26, 2016
I'm turning 40 in a few days, and I want my life to make a difference. So, rather than having a party or taking a trip, I'm going to use this momentous birthday to make a momentous impact. A few months ago, I was standing at a cascading waterfall in on the Hope River Trail nestled in the Blue Mountains of Jamaica. I was moved and heartbroken at the same time--moved by the beauty, heartbroken by bottles and plastic bags everywhere. Rather than complain, I decided to do something. For my birthday, I want to clean up the Hope River Trail. I hope you will choose to help me. This project has 6 goals: 1) Clean up the 3 mile trail ($3000) 2) Engage the local community so that they are invested in keeping the trail clean ($2000) 3) Install artistic garbage receptacles so that people are inspired to throw their waste in a proper place ($6000) 4) Trail improvement ($2500) 5) Develop 3 beauty spots ($3000) 6) Fund ongoing garbage collection ($3000) The goals are in priority order. Partial funding will be used to incrementally achieve each goal.
Thanks so much to Serendipity and Strawberry Hill Hotels for their support and sponsorship!
