Leah Contreras wrote -Dear Friends, Family, and Queens, This past August during leadership training, we chose the word covenant to characterize this year’s goals and choices regarding the relationships in the House. Covenant compels us toward loyalty and sacrifice, both key components of monarchy, and binds us to giving grace and practicing discernment. This year, we are working to establish a covenant to make our House a community that loves, accepts, and develops its members. Following our time of training and planning, we welcomed returning students and brought new members into our House and into this covenant. Through House dinners, all-House gatherings, city engagement, drama and basketball competitions, traditions like Order of the Rose and Pie and Cigar Night and a new Bible study initiative hosted by our Brooklynite upperclassmen, we are promoting the covenant. This spring brings us another opportunity to cultivate covenantal relationships: our House retreat. This retreat is a catalyst, a way to create the space needed to intentionally deepen sincere, transparent, and real relationships –the lynchpin ingredients of building the House’s covenantal community. In order to make this retreat possible, we need to raise $2,000 to cover the cost of renting a facility, transportation, and food. And we need your support. Will you join us through a donation of $25, $50, $100, $200, or more to further the development of our covenantal community? Your gift will make a real difference in our ability to strengthen the bonds of sisterhood as we enter into the spring semester. Thank you for your help. Warmly, Leah Contreras President | House of Queen Elizabeth I Grace. Discernment. Monarchy.
