EVENT DATE Jul 13, 2014

THE STORY:

On February 7, 2014, Jim Bassett was fighting the good fight on behalf of himself and others at work when he suffered a stroke that took his ability to speak and paralyzed his entire right side. The stroke silenced his stories, derailed his career as a trade show/events manager, and suspended the marketing of his first album of original songs, LOCKDOWN. It also seriously set back his disc golf game (a game he excelled at by winning the 22nd Illinois State Championships in 2002). Many months later, Jim is speaking, singing and fighting back, and his friends and acquaintances around the world have been asking for a way to show their support. Hence, The Jim Bassett Project--a fundraiser and musical celebration featuring some of the many musicians Jim has worked with over the years. The live event will be held Sunday, July 13, 1-4 pm, at Brauer House, a rock club in Lombard, IL. Musical guests Split Decision Band, Christian Colin, and others will perform, as will Jim. His album, LOCKDOWN, will also be available for sale (take a listen at http://jimbassettmusic.com). Jim says LOCKDOWN saw the light of day "thanks to allies, enemies and exes," and he is now anxious to get back to work on a second album of "roots rock that sticks to your ribs". But first he has to focus on walking and getting back full use of his right hand--goals his doctor's say are within his reach. None of us want his creative light to go out, and all of us want more stories, songs and disc golf tournaments out of him. So show your support of original music, perseverance and good men by supporting The Jim Bassett Project today.
