Every day we are faced with challenges in our lives. Most of the challenges help us to grow as individuals and leave us better people. But, sometimes we are faced with devastating challenges beyond our control that leave us feeling broken, helpless, and lost. Northeast Georgia is blessed to have dedicated first responders and volunteers, organized through the American Red Cross, to answer the call when individuals in our community are face with heavy burdens.
The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Did you know that the American Red Cross: 1) Distributes approximately 7 million units of blood products/year 2) Responds to nearly 70,000 disasters per year 3) Provides over 350,000 emergency services to our armed forces and their families 4) Delivers preparedness, health and safety courses like First Aid and CPR 5) Provides 49.5 million to fund community services (i.e., food banks, transportation programs).
Whether it's devastation from a home fire, the need for a safe and ready blood supply, or emergency life-saving skills, none of us know when we might need the help of our local Red Cross. But, when we do, the ARC ensures that none of us have to deal with an emergency alone. Volunteers properly install fire alarms, host blood drives, and hold CPR classes. And, in addition to disaster services and education, the Red Cross also works with local military members and families to provide much-needed resources and peace of mind. The Red Cross of Northeast Georgia is truly an organization with our community's needs at heart, and we must all do what we can to touch lives and empower our neighbors.
