The Junior Stars Donation
Organized by: Liam Galia
EVENT DATE May 15, 2015
My name is Liam Galia and I am 11 years old. I have been assigned to do a passion project for my school and I have chosen to donate equipment to a club soccer team called Junior Stars Football Academy in Mombasa, Kenya. I chose this organization because my dad grew up in Mombasa, Kenya so this really means a lot to me.
With the money I will be raising I will buy new soccer balls, jerseys, socks, bibs, and shoes. I would really appreciate it if you could donate! Let's make a difference in these kids lives!!!
Here is some more information about the Junior Stars Football Academy. It is a great organization to help the children in Kenya. You can also go to their website to learn more: http://www.juniorstarskenya.org/about_us.php.

To empower youth through our mentorship programmes by using mentors and role models for guidance.
To empower youth with education pertaining HIV/AIDS, substance abuse and peer education tools.
To produce and disseminate information communication materials on adolescent’s sexual and reproductive health.
To create employment opportunities for the youth both male and female in various capacities.
To collaborate and network with global partnerships in development of our communities.
To develop a socializing centre for the cosmopolitan youth community of Mombasa.
To promote peace building, human rights and democracy.
OUR SOCCER STRATEGY:
The Junior Stars Youth Development Programme’s overall strategy is the power to use soccer as a tool of mitigating youth challenges like HIV/AIDS, drug abuse and social evils. All our programmes are centered on SOCCER, being a popular sport among people makes a very powerful strategy.
Outcomes of the SOCCER APPROACH:
We engage young people in soccer activities therefore reducing their chances of being idle and involved in social evils like early sexual encounters, drug abuse which all increase the chances of contracting the HIV/AIDS.
Through soccer we have created a peaceful environment for youth from different religious, cultural, economical, and social backgrounds, to work together hence fostering PEACE in the community.
We have created employment to the soccer skilled youth who have failed to get coaching jobs in high placed teams, by employing them as assistant coaches, equipment managers, drivers, receptionists, peer educators and others our aim is to alleviate poverty levels.
By supporting income generating activities initiated by the youth results into economic empowerment. Most of the young people come from vulnerable areas with no basic needs. Such initiatives make their life better.
Soccer is a career sport that if well handled can bring income to the player and the community as well. Looking for international soccer sponsorships and teams for our best players is a priority.
