On July 26th we will be attempting our very first marathon in San Francisco. We have decided to do it for more than just fun and do it for something that is close to our hearts. We're raising money through mileage for the 'Strength to strength' charity. It's an organization that brings victims of terrorism together. By providing support, the charity helps victims in the process of moving forward with their lives. Their motto is "Survivors healing survivors".
Strength to strength's "young ambassadors program" focuses on young people aged 14-20 and brings those with similar experiences together. They do fun activities together but also meet with political and community leaders in order to share their experience of trauma and move forward.
To some this cause might seem very distant and might maybe be something that isn't very close at hand and may seem like something that "doesn't happen to me". But last year it happened to our family and it affects people all over the world. It's unpredictable and it's so filled with hate. It's impossible to imagine what families of victims or survivors are going through and that's why we believe it's so important that a charity like 'strength to strength' exists.
Please join us and help us in this global and important cause.
As the training weeks are getting longer and harder we're hoping that we'll be getting your support and know that we'll be thinking of this while working our way through the 26.2 miles on July 27th.
