THE STORY:

Before describeing to you this second phase,  going to tell you about these pictures you're about to view. The first picture is of the "snake run" model. The cars that are around the big bowl well their a little bit to big. They make the "snake run" look not so big. That isn't true....This "snake run" is big, as you will see in a few pictures later...In fact, this was literally laid out 3 times on a football ball field to analize its shape along with its measurements insureing  progressive functionality toward its superior "flow". This was also laid out a 4th time next to the first phase to see how it will fit and it looked pretty "pono"....Picture #2 shows where the second phase will go next to the already built first phase of the skate park. What wasn't shown in this picture is that a strip of parking lot from the skate park to the street, which is 520 ft. long, will be pulled up to dig down and a pipe will be laid to connect to the sewer line on Shaw Street making the restrooms work.... Picture #3 shows a birds-eye view of  the "snake run" on a green back ground. Being this was laid out a few times. The width from beginning to end got wider resulting in the final descriptive measurements spoken of latter in this readings.... Picture #4 shows a overview of the plans and how the "snake run" sits next to the first phase. The green square you see is the metal roof of the two story observation tower on the patio. You can see the restrooms,a 32' sliding gate with a 22' wide drive-up (for vehicles). This area that the restrooms will be at is now a sloping hill. This will be cut down to a leveled terrace accessed by a set of concrete steps at one end and a handicap ramp at the other end. This leveled terrace that the restrooms will sit on will end up being 12" above the existing dirt road in the back making maintinence on the restrooms easy. There were two items that weren't on the original already added up money list. But now they are! That would be the "press box" and the "SHADE". The restroom roof  will be made out of concrete and be flat with a slight unnoticable angle for water roll off. .The leveled terrace the restroom will sit on will be 5' below the existing sidewalk grade on the already first phase. The total height of the restroom with its flat roof will be 9' 6". That makes the restrooms stick up 4' 6" higher then the sidewalk or the existing ground level of this park. Build a "press box" on top of this restroom(being the roof is flat and made of concrete) and put 3 big tempered picture windows in it with each window haveing a metal roll down door to protect them when not in use. The peoples eyes in this press box would be 4' 6" higher then the people out on the skate park and if you were sitting down in this press box you would be about 3' over everybodies head for seeing the goings on. This "press box" will have air conditioning. This will be a major asset for competition and events to come. The second item that wasn't  in on the original money list would be "SHADE".  Heres an idea that seems to be clean. You take those big fat round 24" wide in diameter pole systems that cities on the mainland use to span their hi-ways holding up big signs directing you on and off the roads and telling you where to go.  You divide the new up lifted area into four sections and put these into the ground and span that  93% shade cloth between each one. These poles are perfect for this situation. Their hard to climb and are simple. They would be easy to maintain and they look good. As for "SHADE" over the first phase. Let's go for it..Do it all. When it would come to that subject of the lights. That wouldn't be a problem. Those big tall poles that hold the lights on the first phase could be taken down and then the light fixtures could be attached to the under neath side of the  24" in diameter round poles that will hold the shade cloth over the first phase. Haveing this done would insure a no shadow situation on every run. The whole thought process behind this second phase endevour and its planning is to make as much of it if not all of it maintinence free, level to walk on everywhere and easly taken care of with a minimal work force .... Picture #5 shows how the area the "snake run" will be in, will look after the grade has been raised 10'  bringing it level with the rest of the skate park. This is called "concrete cribbing". It's bionic and super compatible with rushing, pounding or still-setting water.... Picture #6 shows how the tower will look. Makeing You able to look all over the park....Picture #7 shows the pole system that will hold the  93%  "shade cloth" over the skateboard park, both first and second phase

The description of this "snake run" goes as such:  This surf skate run is 330 ft. long. The big bowl or snakes head is 65'x45' big. The beginning of this "snake run" starts at 4' deep and ends up at the big bowl where it will be 8'10" deep.  To get into this run at the beginning you will roll off the big patio it has as if you were rolling off your drive-way into the street. There will be 14' of flat area between the walls in the snakes body all the way down. That way everyone will have a comfortable reaction time to what ever they will be doing. The faster you go the reaction time will be quicker. The radius curve of the walls at the start will be a 7' transition. Halfway down this snake the radius curve of the walls will change to a 8' transition and will continue this into the big bowl. The sidewalk will be 6' wide all the way around this "snake run". This sidewalk measurement might change to 8 ' wide. The big bowl will have 2 7/8" pipe all the way around with stamped tiles up underneath. This area just described under the pipe will be the only area that will be verticle (top 10 inches) in the "snake run". The snake's body will have 3 types of edges in it. A  9" radius round edge, this will allow 32"skateboards and under to roll into this snake with out bottoming out. Allowing  round-house cut backs with or with out lip slides(floaters) to accure fast and just as fast as you go into these you can roll away faster without the stall or tug of the pipe to slow you down burning a trial to your next move just like your surfing. The second edge in the snake will be a  2" radius round edge. The third type of edge will be a square one. All these edges will allow you to pull off old school tricks as well as new made tricks to flourish on demand. The turns in this "snake run" or shall  I say, curves, have so much room that if your a full-fledged surfer you will find yourself roller coastering at least 10  times or more banging off the lip and doing bottom turns per curve without going over to the other side of the snake's body to bang of the lip or what ever. Everyone from beginners to pros will be in this. You will be able to Sunday cruise this or get as rad as rad can get anywhere. The skies the limit. In fact when it comes to the sky the air that you'll be able to pull off from this terrain will be unbelievable. This will be the ultimate practice field for being able to master pulling airs out in the water surfing. For all you down hillers who bomb Haleakala(nobody said that). Your going to marvel at the speeds generated...totally addicting. Don't be surprised if the local law enforcement shows up to volunteer their speed guns. This run is the perfect terrain for timed races and slalom courses. For all those long boards out there...bring them on and don't be bashfull. On the patio, there will be a two story observation tower that will have a 3' overhang for shade all the way around on a 16'x16' deck. All of which will be supported by a 10'x10'x9'  tall cinder block building. What will be a bonus to this tower will be 3/4" stainless steel rods comeing from the footers in it's foundation threaded thru the cinder block to its beam rafters above on top in 9 places equally spaced apart to hold this tight to the ground in case a hurricane comes around like it did on Kauai in 1991. This will be a built in precaution. There will be restrooms and a 32' slideing gate that rolls behind the restrooms to allow maintenence trucks, emergency vehicles and sponsors to utilize the skate park when needed. There will be light poles with banner post to express holidays, events or sponsers, sprinkler system add-ons to what's already there and two more drinking fountains. To support all this."Concrete cribbing" will be used to contain and hold all this along with blue rock corners." Concrete cribbing" is basically concrete lincoln logs with notches stacked in a fashion that puts 6" of space between each piece stacked and if you view the picture that has been presented, which by the way will be the exact height needed(10') to get what needs to be done on this project. What you see on the outside is done on the inside as well and connected perpendicularly. In this case, by 6' pieces of concrete cribbing as well making the concrete cribbing 6' thick, basically. There aren't any hydro-static presssure build ups behind this support and containment system. This fortification wall system being 10' high will lean back at the top 2'  off an invisible verticle line (the wall will be battered back). The blue rock corners will be 10' high as well. The blue rock corners, looking at the site plans are the dark part of the new to be up lifted platform  the "snake run" will be in. The "concrete cribbing" will be between these corners and connect  in a giant verticle notch type fashion(a rabbit joint). The base of these will be 12' thick wide and will be 5' thick wide on top. As you would drive by on Honoapiilani highway, this will look respectfully Hawaiian styled, strong and retro with a prominant  stance. The longevity of this for lasting would rival that of the giant banyen tree down on front street. Skateboarding came from surfing and this will verify that. To have a snake run at your skateboard park carries a invisible honor..especially if its  "Da Kine"..... Hows your style ?

Maui has a lot of people who play music. That said,  "Steven Tyler" of "Aerosmith" will you  play on its opening day....... how about it..... We can construct a stage with the back against the hi-way and you can play towards the mountains. It'a be so friggin cool.
