Leah Shapiro's Fundraiser:
The Laurel of Asheville's "Two Queens & a Drone"
THE STORY:
Hi, and thank you for visiting our fund-raising page! The Laurel of Asheville Magazine is excited to rally support for The Literacy Council of Buncombe County, which will hold their annual Spelling Bee Competition on April 24 at On Broadway, 49 Broadway in downtown Asheville. We will be represented by our spelling team, "Two Queens & a Drone" consisting of Paul Howey (Editor-in-Chief), Leah Shapiro (Community Editor), and Frances Figart (Contributor). Our fund-raiser will end on April 22.
Please consider making a donation that will go straight to the nonprofit organization whose mission is to increase comprehensive literacy and English language skills through one-on-one and small group instruction by trained volunteers.
Any amount we raise over $250 will go toward group "cheats," such as explanation of word origins, the word used in sentence, and the purchase of an easier word. (And all of this money also goes to the Council.) And, while we doubt that such assistance is necessary, it 's always a good idea to bee prepared!
