The Lee family new handicapped accessible home, and vehicle
Organized by: Scotty Lee
I was diagnosed with my disease after a prolonged exposure to tear gas while I was serving in the U.S. Army, I just turned 31 and looking at dying before I can see my 4 boys grow up and have children of their own. I use a mobility device, oxygen, and I have a defibrillator implanted in my chest, I also sleep with a mask to keep me breathing. My fiancee of 9 years has 2 degrees in medical billing and coding but can't pursue her career because for one, she is my caregiver, and two, the only vehicle we own the doors are literally falling apart and won't close right. We don't have any air conditioning in the truck and the windows are being held up by sticks. I'm not even exaggerating! We have 4 boys between us, my fiancee has 3 boys from a previous marriage and I have a boy from a previous marriage but I am the only daddy any of them know and my beautiful fiancee Alana is the only mamma they know. Our oldest son is in the Navy and is stationed in Connecticut on the submarine Virginia as a petty officer. He is married and they are planning on making me a grandpa at 31!! Lol. We would love to have a new vehicle to go visit them. Our home is a rental, it's falling apart and the landlord is a young guy and is already burnt out. He doesn't want to help me get a wheelchair ramp put in for me but is ok with me having whatever I need to be done to the place. The problem with that is the house isn't mine. We would love to maybe get a home of our own. I really don't know how we are going to be able to keep going this way. Our bills exceed our little bit of income. I would be eternally grateful for any help. I would even have a good ol' Florida fish fry for whoever has the ability to help us out.
