BENEFITING: CHARITY AGENT INC
The Lee Monsoor is a 65 foot, 50 ton sport fisherman powered by twin 1,100 horsepower motors. This vessel will be under the command of active duty and former US Navy SEALs. The vessel is currently located in San Diego, the home of SEAL Teams 1, 3, 5, and 7. The vessel was named after Marc Lee who was the first Navy Seal killed in the Iraq Conflict, and Mike Monsoor, who is a recipient of the Medal of Honor; who unselfishly threw himself on a grenade to save his fellow SEAL teammates.
The Navy SEALs know that there is no better place to unwind and clear your mind from issues that become so overwhelming, than out on the water. The mission of The Lee Monsoor is to allow disabled veterans, at-risk youth, and terminally ill children, the opportunity to spend time out at sea in the company of Navy SEALs. It provides them with a break from their daily lives and gives them quality time at sea with true American heroes. Plans include fishing trips, trips to Catalina Island, and even short boat trips combined with excursions to Disneyland for the kids.
Currently the vessel is going through a refit. We are adding new electronics, overhauling the engines, making it handicap accessible, and repainting the vessel in Navy colors. This endeavor is very costly and as of this date, we have taken in no outside funding. The Lee Monsoor has been offered sponsorships by certain corporations, but we prefer to avoid having The Lee Monsoor resemble a NASCAR race car and stay away from corporate sponsorships.
We are looking for donations to help us complete the necessary work on The Lee Monsoor. Not only are we looking for funds, but we are looking for members who want to be involved. We are looking for caring individuals to be a part of our Navy SEAL Family. Because of our deployment and geographic location, these caring individuals can be invaluable in helping us locate disabled veterans, underprivileged and at-risk youth, and terminally-ill children to serve. We would love for our members to organize their own fundraisers and represent the Navy SEALs as part of their family.
