The Life of Riley
Organized by: Tina Riley
T, a college-educated single mom of a beautiful 5 year-old-little-girl worked hard to purchase an old well-used mobile home 14 years ago. After much scrimping, saving and long hours at various jobs the home was purchased. Fast forward 14 years, and even after much care and love, the mobile home which should have been destroyed 14 years ago has begun to deteriorate beyond livability. Her floors have begun to cave in again, 50% of her ceiling has fallen in, the doors are disintegrating, there is no insulation, and most importantly her roof is mostly rusted away. Whenever it rains, the entire house leaks, during the hot summer months, the house remains at a nearly constant temperature of 85 degrees due to holes and lack of insulation. THE VERY WORST THING OF ALL IS THE FACT THE MOBILE HOME PARK SHE IS CURRENTLY LIVING IN IS EVICTING HER BECAUSE OF THE AGE OF HER MOBILE HOME. The home has deteriorated so much she cannot move it somewhere else either. T has very little in her savings account. She works over 70 hours a week at her two jobs but is unable to save much because she does not get paid much and because she always puts herself and her needs last and has worked hard to be sure her child received the care and help she needed to grow into an intelligent college-educated woman. T has been able to locate a gently used home which is reasonably priced (and the current homeowner is very generously working with her) and needs help to make the 20% downpayment and cover the cost of expenses for 1 month while she is out of work to move.
