The Lisa Peddicord Medical Fund
Organized by: Jennifer Lewis
This is not a cause. This is a story. You can help with the happy ending. It was just like any other day. Lisa Peddicord went about her business, taking care of her family and working. She had been experiencing symptoms of a sinus infection but endured them as she attended to her responsibilities. You wouldn’t expect anything less from Lisa, who continually looks past herself to help others. She is the wife of a soldier who was deployed to Afghanistan, she knows sacrifice. When her symptoms persisted and progressed, she was taken to the ER and her medical journey began. After countless tests, frustration, more tests, transferring hospitals, and more even more tests, the doctors at Ohio State Medical Center diagnosed Lisa with a rare demyelinating disease that resulted in microscopic clots in her brain. It would be nice to say that the diagnosis was the climax; the beginning of the road to recovery. However, Lisa’s condition continues to fluctuate and after a short stay in rehabilitation, she was recently transferred back to the hospital for more testing. This began in July. It is now September. Every single day Lisa’s husband, Keith has been by her side. He is her support and advocate. Their love and devotion to each other is truly epic. They are living the vows that they made to each other, in sickness and health. To say this is a hard situation would be an understatement. The hardest part might be not knowing what is next. You can help. Being away from life, their two young children (ages 2 and 6), and the mundane responsibilities is a stressful reality that they are dealing with. Some extra money to help with medical bills, rehabilitation, or everyday expenses can help ensure that Keith can stay by Lisa’s side. While Keith and Lisa continue living their story, you can help make it better.
