EVENT DATE: Jan 28, 2012
Eli & I are headed to Nairobi & Kisii, Kenya.
Considered one of the harshest slum communities, where forgotten children walk about barefoot, exposed to cholera & other waterborne disease, the Kituii Ndogo Slum is where we will be spending the better part of February.
Our hearts were rattled by the incredible challenges these kids face on a daily basis & deeply inspired by one of the most beautiful souls on the planet - Chris Lowman (http://www.thelivingsmile.com) who is currently on the ground doing amazing things for the people of Nairobi, Kisii & beyond.
In addition to our work with the children, teaching sanitation/hygiene & learning from the beautiful Kenyan people & their values & culture, we simply cannot turn our backs to a very dire need within the slum itself - a critical sewage problem effecting numerous lives. Many homes open out to stagnate sewage lines & during the rainy season, that sewage leaks into homes exposing the residents to illness & disease, not to mention how demoralizing it is for their souls.
To make a true impact in the lives of over 5000 residents & 500 homes in Kituii Ndogo, we are raising funds to help fix the problem. It is an immense undertaking - it will take 2 weeks of solid hard work, but it will be done, part of which we will bear witness to & share with you with powerful images & narrative. We have much to do. Yet much to give & much to learn from the Kenyan people.
Will you please help us meet our love offering of $6,000? Help us bring hope to Kenya. As Chris often says, in the Kituii Ndogo Slum, "love is the answer."
Much gratitude for your love & support.
